AutoCloning
The
American Society For Dermatological Surgery has requested that Dr.
Hitzig present his work at their International Meeting in October of
this year.
The attempts at cloning
human hair have proven more challenging than originally thought. Since
human hair has two genetic sources, it seems reasonable to create two
growing hairs from one.
|

|
Objective:
To use the heartier beard hairs as a source for
successful hair duplication. |
|
|

|
Methods:
A tweezing protocol was
developed to successfully remove the hair shaft and bulb while
leaving the follicle in place. These heartier
"hairs" were then re-implanted into balding defined
areas of the scalp and followed over time. |

Results:
Hair regrowth of the heartier
hairs was observed in both the donor and recipient areas. |

Conclusion:
Autologous hair
replication utilizing the heartier beard hairs is viable. |
